Talking Man by Mike Heppner
No longer available.
Heppner weaves a kaleidoscopic narrative of varying voices, mirroring perfectly the complex dynamic that connects each person within the inextricable tangle of family and human relationships. —Josh Maday, The Chapbook Reivew
Talking Man is the second story in a four-story project that was written and distributed during 2008 and 2009.
Though its overall theme examines creativity as an impulse to make and destroy, it is also an honest, sometimes brutal examination of publishing and one of the most compelling projects that Small Anchor Press has had the opportunity to publish.
The first portion of this project, Man Talking can be read online, here. The third part, Man, was photocopied 500 times and distributed throughout the US and Europe during the winter 2008. This story was accompanied by a letter requesting the reader to send Heppner a response. These responses have been posted on the author’s website. The fourth installment of this projected was published as a single copy, given away in a contest and deposited at the winner’s door in Fall 2009.
